Profile / Bio
I’m a lifelong trekker and mountaineer who has explored every continent on foot, camera in hand. My path has taken me up the spine of the Americas—from Patagonia through Chile, Peru, and Costa Rica—into the Sierra Nevada of California, the Wind River range of Wyoming, and, most recently, the wilds of the North Cascades. I’ve walked the Bernese, Dolomite, and Engadine Alps, and crossed high passes in Nepal’s Himalaya reaching over 17,500 feet. Over 40 years in the Sierra Nevada, among a multitude of peaks and passes I’ve climbed eight of California’s 14’ers—two of them twice. For six years, my wife Stacey and I made our home base near Yosemite, hiking, and backpacking throughout the park, until wildfires drove us north. We now live in Blaine, by the shore of the Salish Sea, still drawn to wild places and the trails that lead into them.
Not long ago we spent several weeks in New Zealand, and returned with images I would love to share of the wondrous South Island.
