Profile / Bio
Retired veterinarian Peggy Shashy is an award-winning fused glass and jewelry artist
whose work is inspired by her passion for birds and the natural beauty of the many
forests in North and South America. She is using a modeling glass technique, crackle
glass technique, and exploring glass paints in her current fusing projects. Through these
intricate glass fusing techniques with glass powders and paints, her work celebrates
wildlife and encourages others to explore the natural world.
She joined two rock clubs after moving to the Pacific Northwest. She fell in love with the
lapidary arts and makes her own cabochons from rocks she has collected. Her wire
wrapped jewelry she creates reflects her deep love of nature and a bold exploration of
artistic process. Peggy enjoys being an active member of the Garry Oak Gallery in Oak
Harbor and participating in juried art competitions.
